Health classes explained
What each health ranking (Preferred Plus, Preferred, Standard Plus and Standard) represents and what shifts you into a different bracket.
Term coverage is priced using health category. Carriers label them differently, but the order stays the same: Preferred Plus (sometimes Best Preferred or Elite Preferred), Preferred, Standard Plus and Standard, then table-rated for higher risk. Nicotine users get a separate bracket at higher costs.
What underwriters look at
Body shape, pressure and cholesterol levels, whether immediate relatives had cancer or heart attack before turning 60, your accident record, what meds you take, whether you're in a risky line of work or hobby, and nicotine or tobacco products. Top ratings require good marks everywhere; Preferred lets a few things slide; Standard and Standard Plus accept well-managed conditions like blood pressure on medication.
How to use the quote tool
Answer honestly about your health: Excellent aims for Preferred Plus, Very good for Preferred, Good for Standard Plus and Average for Standard. These drive your estimates; the underwriter verifies your final bracket afterward. Claiming better health than true doesn't reduce your actual payment, only makes the estimate less useful.
Susman Insurance Agency knows which carriers have friendlier requirements for particular medical histories, which regularly helps more than the cheapest base price.
